About the CRC
The Community Racing Challenge was formed over the Winter/Spring of 2007.

You can read about the first year history of the CRC in the CRC History section.

The Community Racing Challenge mission statement is : To provide meaningful support to local non-profit organizations in the form of fundraising and team building events which will not only foster new interest in local short track racing, but enhance the relationship between drivers, owners, local businesses and the citizens of our community.

In 2008, the Community Racing Challenge is focusing on fostering new drivers.

We are not abandoning our objectives set forward in 2007, we are simply taking a different tact in 2008, we hope to return to full fledged charity events in 2009, but for 2008, we are going to specifically focus on bringing new people into the sport of short track racing.

The Community Racing Challenge Director of Operations is Patrick McNamara. A native of Fowler, Michigan; Patrick McNamara graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business from Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH and has been actively involved in the Mid-Michigan Sports Scene since the Mid-90’s.

The previous host of The Lansing Sports Rage, a Sports Talk Show hosted on The Game, 730am WVFN in Lansing, Patrick has also broadcast play-by-play of college basketball and high school football. In life long love affair with racing cumulated with the acquisition of a race car in 2006 and the formation of LSR Racing. Patrick’s rookie season in 2006 at Spartan ended with a 13th place in the standings and earned Rookie-of-the-Year honors in the division, while his rookie season at Springport Motor Speedway ended with a 5th place finish in the standings. Patrick's sophmore season in 2007 at Springport Motor Speedway ended with a 2nd place finish in the FWD Pure Stock Division and another class rookie of the year trophy.

Team CRC for 2008 in the FWD Pure Stock (Super Six) Division consists of: Brian Jenks of Holt, Jimmy Tucker of Mt. Clemens, Randy Royston of Charlotte, Alvia Clark of Grand Ledge, Mark Mantyla of St. Johns, Blake Sternberg of Eaton Rapids and Patrick McNamara of Grass Lake.

Team CRC for 2008 in the Pony Stock Division consists of: Robbie Greiser of Macomb, James Hammond of Toledo, Matt Myers of Lansing, Nicholas Young of Grass Lake and Darren Coffey of Grass Lake.

Of the twelve drivers on the CRC roster, six had never driven a race car before the 08 season.  Four more drivers qualify for "rookie" status... having less then five total races in experience.  Even CRC Director Patrick McNamara and Race Director Brian Jenks have less then 3 years experience each.  The CRC truly is a co-operative effort of beginner drivers helping other beginner drivers learn and enjoy the sport of short track racing.

Team CRC has an extensive sponsorship program, including highline team sponsorships; associated track sponsorships or even basic individual driver sponsorships.  You can even select a sponsorship and make your payment online.
